Then the inbox opened. The messages started. The “quick questions” arrived. The meeting ran over. The tiny admin jobs somehow became urgent.

I think we sometimes misunderstand what it means to protect our energy. We assume it means doing less, avoiding discomfort, staying within familiar routines, or saying no to anything that might require extra effort.

No checking emails first. No scrolling social media. No opening 17 tabs. No “quick look” at LinkedIn. No disappearing down a ChatGPT rabbit hole because one thought feels difficult.
